Flashcards
Writing Scenario #5
Scenario:
A student writer is faced with an assignment where he must choose one side of some controversial issues. He should make a strong, clear argument for one side. Then, in a second essay, he must make a clear argument for the other. The key is that each essay must argue clearly for just one side and then the other, though there should be paragraphs near the end to address each opposing view.
Writing Scenario #5
Original Scenario:
A student writer is faced with an assignment where he must choose one side of some controversial issues. He should make a strong, clear argument for one side. Then, in a second essay, he must make a clear argument for the other. The key is that each essay must argue clearly for just one side and then the other, though there should be paragraphs near the end to address each opposing view.
Type of Argument:
In this writing situation, since the writer must write two, strong essays, one on each side of an issue, it makes sense for the writer to develop classical or Aristotelian essays. This type of argument also works well for addressing the opposing views, as required by his assignment.
