"Sierra Leone owes its name to Portuguese seafarers who thought who thought they saw a giant chain of mountains along the West African coast and also imagined that they heard the roaring of lions in the hills. But the roaring sound came from the surf, and the towering mountains later proved to be cumulus clouds forming great cliffs in the sky.
